“I’ve had the pleasure of training folks from all walks of life, including country music sensations Reba McEntire, JoDee Messina and Jamie O’Neal.”

Dawn Cunningham

I grew up in Northwest Ohio in a rural farming community, driving three-wheelers with my neighbors and sitting in with my Dad to help plow fields on the big John Deere. Ohio was a great place to grow up as a kid, but I always knew that I wanted to explore more of the country. I left Ohio when I was 19 to pursue a career as a singer/dancer at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri and had a blast! After almost three years on stage I moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Belmont University for Exercise Science and Music Business.

My years in college found me exploring amateur figure/body-building and teaching Spin, Step and Weight Lifting classes at a local YMCA. Those things quickly morphed into a love of Personal Training as I went on to become a full-fledged Certified Personal Trainer by ACE in 1997. Over the years to follow, I had the pleasure of training folks from all walks of life, including country music sensations Reba McEntire, JoDee Messina and Jamie O’Neal.

While working as a private personal trainer in people’s homes as well as private studio settings, I ran across a Nashville-born-and-raised Southern gentleman who later became my husband! What comes next? Ahhh, yes, pregnancy #1! I realized quickly during this time that lifting weights and cardio exercise wasn’t the end-all to making me feel my best and so began a regular yoga routine at a local studio and that was the beginning of the next phase of my journey!

My personal yoga practice really opened my Soul to experiences I’d never realized or understood, namely the importance of balancing ALL aspects of the Self and it was after the birth of my first daughter that I began exploring meditation and other tools for relaxation and balance integration for my life. This new Mom was thankful for these tools, most certainly! In 2006, I became certified as a Life Alignment Technique practitioner as well as a Reiki Therapist and began offering sessions which help others promote inner peace and clarity for their lives fitting hand-in-hand with all that I’d been learning along my yoga practice.

Along comes baby #2 and with her, a chance to complete my 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher training, enabling me to now bring my yoga knowledge into teaching use, incorporating not only yoga practices within my private personal training sessions but also instructing group yoga classes throughout the greater Metro Nashville area (a favorite spot of mine for yoga is Sanctuary For Yoga, I’m a regular instructor for them, come stretch with me sometime!).

So folks, that’s not the end of my bio, the rest is currently being written as I continue my trek, certain to have many more interesting twists and turns along the way! What IS a constant within my journey, however, is my desire to help others find the best pieces of themselves and bring them forward to really enjoy, appreciate and LOVE themselves and their lives. Every moment, every experience is important for us, offering us opportunities to expand our horizons, go forward and live it, love it, BE it!
